THE STORY SO FAR
Chaos, confusion and destruction ripped through the streets of Technatronic. The sinister Virus and his band of evil renegades had led an all out assault to take control of the planet. Fortunately Government soldiers gained the upper hand, arresting Virus and three of his renegades, expelling them into orbit.
Galaxies later, they drifted into Earth’s atmosphere. Frenzied vibrations shook the earth and awoke Towalla, the spirit of the Australian Outback, who had been sleeping for thousands of years. Towalla shot through the sky and honed in on the evil that lay ahead. She knew the human race would be powerless in trying to stop Virus and that the earth and all its beauty would quickly perish under his destructive control. She needed to create her own heroic warriors. Warriors that grew from the earth itself.
She surveyed the barren, harsh land of the Australian Outback. To survive there a creature needed extraordinary skills. She saw many animals each with their own unique abilities. The echidna, short, stocky, powerful, with an armour of spines covering its body. The wombat, a rock-like creature, possessing enormous strength. The frilled-neck lizard, a reptile with lightning speed and an armour plate surrounding its head. The platypus, an odd looking creature that excelled in water. The kookaburra, fearless hunter and a wizard in the sky. The koala, wise and intelligent.
Towalla instinctively knew these were the creatures she had been searching for. She led each one to a piece of land untouched by human hands, hidden in the heart of the Outback. Summoning up all of her mystical powers, the Outback Downunder Crime Busters were created, and so the legend begins.
Three comic strip episodes have been produced, telling the story so far!
The next big thing?
The comic strip and animation genres have exploded around the world. With the success of the Marvel Franchise, Anime, The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this has become a multibillion-dollar industry.
Streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney are constantly looking for new, unique content in the animation genre. We believe there is an enormous market, both nationally and internationally for Downunder Crime Busters.
The concept behind Outback Downunder Crime Busters is unique in that it is totally Australian:
-
The heroes are Australian animals, odd looking creatures, unique to the Australian bush.
-
The setting is the Australian Outback and Sydney Harbour, both world-wide tourist destinations.
-
The dialogue is dinki-di Australian. (But not too much, as we don’t want to confuse our international audience.) The Crime Busters speak in an Aussie slang, using expressions such as, “g’day mate”,“fair dinkum” and “no worries!”
-
The world has a fascination with anything Australian, just look at the success of Crocodile Dundee, Steve Irwin and the many Australian actors dominating Hollywood.
Downunder Crime Busters sells Australia. Australian teens will find out more about the Australian way of life. And children from all over the world will want to know more about the echidna, the platypus, what a ‘barbie’ is and why we say g’day.
Not only does Crime Busters promote Australia, it also has an environmental push. The Crime Busters are created from the earth. They recycle, use solar power and their whole purpose is to protect their natural habitat and the earth itself. In contrast to this, the villains are from a planet where technology has gone berserk and out of control.
We believe there is enormous potential for Downunder Crime Busters in the following areas:
-
Animation for: multiscreen devices, television, and streaming networks
-
Publishing ranging from: comic strip format to storybooks
-
Using Social Media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to create brand awareness of the Crime Busters, encouraging audiences to impersonate their favourite characters.
-
Gaming: online and mobile.
-
Merchandising ranging from: toys, clothing, stationary, board games and collector cards.
